Is physiotherapy right for me?
Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals trained to assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and help you understand what’s wrong. They will development a treatment plan taking into account your lifestyle, activities, and general health.
We address the entire body, including headaches, neck pain, back pain, hip/knee/ankle/foot injuries, shoulder/elbow/wrist injuries as well as less specific problems such as gradual onset, long-standing pain that affects your day to day activities. If in doubt, call or email us. We want to help you get in touch with the right health professional to answer your questions and help you get better sooner.
What do I have to do to see a physiotherapist?
You can book in to see us without visiting a doctor first. In Australia, Physiotherapists are trained as primary practitioners, which means we are trained to identify if you are presenting with a musculoskeletal problem (injury to your muscles, bones, ligaments etc), or if there is a significant problem or injury that requires further medical investigation. During your appointment, your physiotherapist will perform a thorough examination, which will help to determine a diagnosis, specific treatment plan and estimated time of recovery.
Do I have to see a doctor first?
No, you can see a physiotherapist without seeing a doctor first, and we will be able to refer you back to your doctor if we find this is required after you've been assessed
I don't have health insurance - can I still book an appointment?
Yes, you can still see a physiotherapist without health insurance. The total cost of the appointment is the same, although a rebate from a health insurance provider does reduce the amount of your 'out of pocket' expense. Please call reception (8376 8816) to find out the current rates, and if you have further questions about health insurance.
I've hurt myself - will it cost a lot to get physio help?
Physiotherapists work with you to find the best solution in your specific situation. In your first appointment with your physiotherapist, your physiotherapist will explain approximately how long it will take to recover from an injury, and approximately how many treatments will be required to get you the best outcome. We aim to provide treatment plans that suit your situation, so discuss any financial restrictions with your physiotherapist, and they will be able to tailor your treatment to suit you.
If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to email us, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
