Why do you need a running assessment? Here's my story

I'm a runner of 20+ years and for a long time I just ran.

I ran to get fit.

I ran to get fresh air.

I ran to get some quiet time from the busy world.

I didn't really think about how I ran or when I ran, and then I got injured....

This story is far too common in the running world. Some estimates suggest over 60% of runners get injured every year! Thats a lot of runners not being able to run (and that makes runners grumpy!)

So after sitting out with an injury for over 18 months, I decided to do everything I possibly could to make sure other people don't have to face the same experience.

The reasons I got injured:

- Poor training structure

- Lack of rest time

- Poor technique, with weakness where I needed to be strong, which caused tightness in all the classic spots

After some serious rehab and very good advice, I found my way back onto the footpath, and carefully built back up to enjoying 15km runs.

I like to think that everything happens for a reason, and this horrible experience definitely had a silver lining in learning opportunities. Don't make the same mistakes!

A running assessment gives you this:

- Find out what you're doing right

- Find out what you can improve on

- Keeping you running injury free for longer, or get you safely back to running after an injury

How much is your running worth to you?

So why do you need a running assessment?

Consider it a basic health check, just like a routine appointment with your doctor to make sure your blood pressure is ok, and your vitamin D levels are fine.

Here's all the facts you need to know about having a running assessment:

60 minutes includes:

  1. A strength and flexibility check

  2. Video analysis of you running

  3. You'll leave with a detailed plan of what you can improve on, plus how to do it

  4. Unlimited ongoing advice and guidance via email to keep you moving well

This is simple stuff, that's powerful in the long term.

Cost $123.60 (correct at Oct 12 2015) and you can claim a rebate from your health insurance
